contemporáneo como un fenómeno lingüístico en sí mismo, no como un conductor de mensaje, en esa lógica abordo la visualidad como un sistema combinatorio de signos que responden a un contexto con leyes decodificables. Bajo esta lógica abordo la ciudad, donde los recorridos, situaciones, mobiliarios, inmobiliarios y objetos son entendidos y leídos de manera colectiva pues pertenecen al paisaje cotidiano, al día a día, a lo aparentemente normal a lo incuestionable, al imaginario compartido. Desde ahí extraigo los elementos o signos que reutilizo, que me apropio para generar relecturas. Esta propuesta consiste en un objeto escultórico desplazado y emplazado con tal de releer un contexto determinado. Se trata de una escultura realista del ex rey Juan Carlos, con tenida de caza apuntando con un rifle a metros del símbolo de Madrid; la escultura del Oso y el Madroño. Lo que gatilla y arma la propuesta, además del juego de perspectivas que permite el registro fotográfico, es el gesto parasitario de un objeto a otro ya existente para instalar la duda, generar ruido desde lo mínimo. El carácter cínico de la operación se hace presente en relación a la ubicación del objeto escultórico en un sitio específico, en el acople. Si mi escultura se analiza en solitario es un monumento (de pequeño formato) de Juan Carlos, incluso podría ser una suerte de homenaje. El detonante de la relectura radica en el lugar donde se instala; las decisiones de estilo tendrán consecuencias estéticas y por lo tanto contextuales. La propuesta analiza el entorno y repite sus formas: es coherente que la escultura figurativa de Juan Carlos articule el sentido desde el gesto de parasitar (en clara alusión a la monarquía), que de alguna manera yo repito desde el quehacer artístico; un modus operandi ya existente. El gesto es político, incluso gamberro, pero no desde el panfleto, sino que con la observación, la apropiación de códigos y el desplazamiento de signos a partir del camuflaje y la visualidad misma. Cabe destacar que parte importante del relato fue el operativo logístico para la ejecución de la obra: revisión de la ley española, asesoría con el abogado Endika Zulueta, equipo de informantes desde España, revisión de cámaras de seguridad, revisión de cambios de turno de la policía, llevar en dos maletas la pieza escultórica descuartizada desde Chile a Madrid, etc. También forman parte del análisis los contrapuntos que devienen de la operación: el primero tiene que ver con un mínimo gesto y máximo rendimiento y el segundo con el hecho de apelar a la estatuaria clásica para llevar a cabo un gesto contemporáneo. Para cerrar y en consecuencia con lo planteado en este texto, cito al escritor mexicano Juan Pablo Villalobos (en el libro “Lo Infraordinario”, donde se reflexiona en torno al libro Homónimo de Georges Perec): “… ¿Qué hace, si no, un humorista, un clown? Intenta restituir la sorpresa y trabaja sobre lo cotidiano. La observación en tanto lectura del entorno es fundamental como primer paso, para, posteriormente ejecutar lo que me interesa; la operación visual. Esta se basa en dos pilares; camuflaje y acople. Busco la contradicción- no la incoherencia- , es decir la tensión entre elementos opuestos, la paradoja, la dialéctica, que al fin y al cabo tiene y genera sentido como un techo a dos aguas. Desde todo lo comentado hasta ahora nace el proyecto La Noble Igualdad, en y para Buenos Aires, es operación de sitio específico, no funciona en otra ciudad. La obra toma y se apropia de las esculturas figurativas de personajes de la cultura popular porteña; tangueros, escritores, personajes de historieta, futbolistas, gente de la tv, humoristas, Perón, Evita, el papa etc…Son esculturas repartidas en las veredas de la ciudad, un guiño pop que resalta la particularidad de cada uno de los personajes retratados, una invitación al turista extranjero y del interior del país a sacarse fotos, paraempaparse de argentinidad y dejar de manifiesto que se estuvo ahí. La Noble Igualdad parasita dicha dinámica, bajo la misma estructura instala tres esculturas (tamaño real-uno a uno) desde la vereda opuesta a la singularidad. Son tres esculturas de personajes anónimos, pero por lo mismo son reconocibles, son tópicos repetidos por montones: Un policía (federal) sacándose una selfie con una pistola apuntando a cualquier parte en su mano izquierda (los casos de gatillo fácil son un montón), un niño de villa junto a su perro en clara cita a Juanito Laguna de Berni (peroactualizad en su vestimenta -la marca de su pantalón de buzo dice Niko en vez de Nike) y una chica turra en pose y gesto que irradia carácter. Son personajes de margen, sin glamour, incluso indeseables. Se parasitan las calles y el gesto de las originales, se ejecuta el ruido o anomalía antes nombrado desde las mismas reglas ya existentes. Cabe destacar que las esculturas son desplazadas y emplazadas en distintos puntos de la ciudad, es un recorrido (su permanencia es momentánea). Se instalaron en dieciséis locaciones, cada intervención cuenta con registro de fotos y video. Tanto recorridos, locaciones así como los personajes elegidos son tentativas, o sea podrían ser otros personajes anónimos y cien locaciones más. Locaciones: Policía: Junto a la escultura de Larguirucho y Súper Hijitus en la esquina de Balcarce y México. Plaza de Mayo, en el momento de la marcha de las madres de la Pza de Mayo. En Barrio once, junto a los manteros de venta ambulante, generalmente senegaleses En el espacio de memoria “Club Atletico” que fuera centro de tortura en la última dictadura. Fuera de la estación de subte Rodolfo Walsh. Facultad de Filosofía de la UBA. Niño (Juanito): Junto a la escultura de “Mafalda y sus amigos” En el Paseo Colón, junto a un banco BBVA altura San Telmo. En Puerto Madero En la Bolsa de Comercio de Bs As En la Catedral de Bs As Chica Turra: Junto a las esculturas de “Las Chicas Divito” en la esquina de Av. Belgrano con Balcarce. En el frontis del colegio Nacional Buenos Aires. En el frontis del MALBA En el frontis de la facultad de derecho de la UBA Fuera de tribunales. El titulo es otro articulador de sentido ya que “Gente en su sitio” es el nombre de un libro del dibujante argentino “Quino” por otra parte “Noble Igualdad” es una frase del Himno argentino”, en tanto el concepto de “Tentativas” es el q une ambas citas a modo de bisagra. La temperatura, o ruido en cada intervención es distinta, es esta sumatoria y mezcla de intervenciones ruidosas y silenciosas la que constituye la estructura y el relato de las tentativas; es diferente la escultura del policía en Plaza de Mayo el día de la marcha de las madres o el mismo personaje fuera del espacio de memoria “Club Atletico” al policía con los manteros senegaleses o la cita de Juanito Laguna fuera de la Catedral o la Bolsa de Comercio a su acople en el paseo Colón (espacio más solitario). Ante todo, en esta obra se repite una situación desde el contrapunto: la instalación en plena ciudad de personajes pop, salvo que en este caso no provienen del espectáculo ni la singularidad, sino que son extraídos desde el anonimato, pero por lo mismo son leíbles, pues su forma remite a miles. escultórico -el busto-. Son retratos en volumen de coleccionistas pertenecientes al lugar a desarrollar la obra. El tamaño y valor de cada uno de ellos es proporcional al impacto de su colección.&nbsp; Es una operación que apela a la puesta en abismo; el coleccionista se rescata a sí mismo. El trabajo se articula en tanto repite una característica del modelo económico y por lo tanto del libre mercado: la especulación -de ahí la manipulación de valores sin regularización-. En este sentido es una obra de sitio específico en tres aspectos: el país de origen (Chile, capitalismo y cuerpo), territorio del mercado artístico y los posibles lugares donde se siga ejecutando la operación. En Síndrome de Estocolmo la totalidad de las piezas que componen la obra son piezas únicas, devaluadas de forma radical para que el gesto adquiera movilidad y potencialidad desde el ego y la seducción estética. Destaco que la obra no tiene intención reivindicativa, más bien apuesta por la paradoja y el absurdo. La obra es abierta, posee un carácter itinerante o global en dos áreas; la primera de ellas tiene que ver con la reventa, recompra o recuperación de secuestrados a un nuevo valor, es decir, las piezas siguen girando y el segundo responde al hecho de que contempla distintas versiones en distintos países-ciudades. Síndrome de Estocolmo Miami: operación ejecutada en feria PINTA en el stand correspondiente a Galería Pabellón 4 de Bs As. En esta instancia se presentaron cuatro coleccionistas relacionados a dicho circuito. Síndrome de Estocolmo Santiago: operación ejecutada en Galería XS de Santiago de Chile. En tal presentación se instalaron nueve bustos de coleccionistas chilenos(as) divididos en tres valores distintos. Stockholm Syndrome is an image appropriation, a kidnapping of a commonplace or sculpture cliché: the bust.Particularly, they are volume portraits of local art gallery collectors where the size and value of each of them are proportional to the impact of their collection. It is an artist statement appealing to a mise en abyme. The collector rescues himself. The work is articulated by repeating a characteristic of the Chilean economic model and, therefore, of free-market: speculation. Hence the manipulation of prices without regulation. In this sense, it is a site-specific work that could be understood from three major pillars: Chile, Capitalism, and Body. All sculptures included in Stockholm Syndrome are unique devalued pieces, so thegesture acquires mobility and potentiality from ego and aesthetic seduction. The work is open. It has a global or itinerant character in two aspects. En mi caso, fue “cuerpo y capitalismo”, sobre este escenario establezco cruces basados encaracterísticas chilenas actuales bajo rasgos identitarios: un diálogo entre el lugar de la muestra y mi país. Repito un gesto, una operación cosmética, tal cual el Chile contemporáneo, es decir, otorgo un baño de maquillaje, estetizo una situación, en este caso marginal: las vendedoras de ídolos religiosos que se instalan fuera de las iglesias. Al mismo tiempo, reconozco la casa de estudios que alberga la muestra no solo bajo el carácter religioso, sino que también como seno de los “Chicago boys”, fundadores del Chile actual. En consecuencia, instalo un stand publicitario formato mall, con reproducciones a escala de las obras de los otros artistas, tales reproducciones están construidas en códigos religiosos y puestas a la venta por una promotora-modelo, o sea, repito el gesto capitalista: me nutro del trabajo de otros, especulo y pongo en venta. El título de la muestra es otro cruce a modo de juego lingüístico con la leyenda inscrita en los dólares así como con la casa de ventas de arte “Christie’s”. Para mantener la coherencia con la construcción conceptual y formal, el stand estaba instalado fuera de la sala de exhibición. This work is part of the exhibition “Liminal Bodies”. The curatorship was structured based on four thematic axes linked to the notion of body. In my case, it was “Body and Capitalism”. With this framework I explore intersections based on current Chilean characteristics and identity traits. A dialogue between the place of exhibition and my country. I repeated a gesture, a cosmetic operation alike contemporary Chile. I offered a make-up bath aestheticizing a recognized marginal situation: the sellers of religious icons usually working outside Chilean churches. At the same time, I acknowledge the university hosting the exhibition, not only due to its religious character but as the cradle of the “Chicago boys”, founders of today’s Chile. Consequently, I created a mall- style advertising stand, with scaled reproductions of the works of other artists. Such reproductions were constructed according to religious codes and put up for sale by a promoter-model. That is, I repeated the capitalist gesture: I feed myself with the work of others, I speculate and put on sale. The title of the exhibition is a linguistic game playing with the legend inscribed in the US dollars as well as with “Christie’s” art auction house. En ese sentido, el término en castellano (cuarto o gabinete de maravillas, aficionados) se inscribe como motor de las operaciones realizadas en conjunto. Lo maravilloso, espectacular, novedoso, inmediato, en efectivo o crédito, es la promesa de entretención contemporánea a la que estamos acostumbrados. Tal promesa en el terreno de las artes visuales es la de la experiencia espectacular de consumo cultural. La manipulación de elementos opuestos, contradictorios (no incoherentes) es lo que me importa: instalar un problema, un resultado formal de doble lectura. El ejercicio individual plantea juegos de lenguaje, asumiendo la imagen, el objeto y el arte contemporáneo como un fenómeno en sí mismo y no como un medio. En “Kunstkamera”, la parcelación de los gabinetes de aficionados originales comprendidos en tres ítems acomodados al contexto local y global en tanto espectáculo: Animalia, Naturalia y Artificialia. Si bien los gabinetes de antaño fueron precursores en cuanto descubrimientos geográficos, arqueológicos, científicos a la vez que contenedores de obras de arte, también fueron el nicho del gesto que rescato: la farsa. En los tres casos siempre hay una cita como mínimo. Las citas funcionan como pistas de un puzzle operativo-contextual, basado en la cultura popular de masas y bajo esos códigos lo que los ancla es el valor económico otorgado a cada una de las piezas, tal valor presenta acorde a la inflación local (Argentina) como veladura de un 30% de aumento. The title of the exhibition does not refer to its museum or gallery predecessor in historical terms. It uses and manipulates the gesture, that is, the spectacular, novel and strange character of the Kunstkamera. In that sense, the term in Spanish (room or cabinet of wonders, amateurs) is taken as the motive of the artist’s statement. The wonderful, spectacular, innovative, immediate experience - paid in cash or by credit, is the promise of the contemporary entertainment to which we are accustomed to. Such a promise in the field of visual arts is that of the spectacular experience of cultural consumption. The manipulation of opposing, contradictory (non-inconsistent) elements is what matters: to install a problem, a formal result of double reading. This particular exercise presents language games taking the image, object and contemporary art as a phenomenon itself and not as a means. In Kunstkamera, the original amateur cabinets are divided into three items adapted to the local and global context and presented as an entertainment show: Animalia, Naturalia and Artificialia. While old cabinets were precursors of geographical, archaeological and scientific discoveries as well as containers of artworks, they also became the niche of the gesture I rescue: the farce. Each part of the show contains at least a quote based on popular mass culture expressions and works as a clue for an operational-contextual puzzle. Under those codes, the economic value granted to each of the pieces is the common base. La operación que aquí presento, es de carácter paradójico, donde el objetivo es una relectura contextual. Esto se construye con tres ejes: un fragmento del himno brasileño como título de obra (és belo, és forte, impávido, colosso, inscrito en el pedestal de la figura); La reproducción a escala de la obra “Boy” de Ron Mueck; la marca deportiva Nike, que en ese entonces era el auspiciador de la selección brasileña de fútbol. La paradoja es ejecutada desde dos instancias que derivan de la apropiación y cruce de los elementos antes nombrados: la primera remite al tamaño de mi propuesta en comparación con la obra original de Mueck (he ahí el fragmento del himno como ente articulador de sentido) y la segunda, en tanto aspiración de una feria de arte donde se consume imagen en contraposición con la realidad sociopolítica de Brasil. The work responds to the context of “PART”; the art fair of Sao Paulo. The operation/statement presented here is paradoxical in nature and the objective is a contextual rereading. The work is based on three axes: a fragment of the Brazilian anthem writtenon the pedestal (is beautiful, is forte, impavid, colossus), a scale reproduction of the work “Boy” by Ron Mueck and the sports brand Nike, which was then the sponsor ofthe Brazilian soccer team. Me baso en el cliché de Barcelona como panacea del turismo y juerga de “guiris” (argot ibérico para llamar a los turistas) principalmente primermundistas. El formato de la feria es fundamental para la lectura del objeto souvenir, pues éstas son un fenómeno político en sí: se produce y consume imagen, donde es posible leer las Artes Visuales como una excentricidad del diseño o un signo de clase. La feria de arte como fuente de novedades y lindos recuerdos para llevar al hogar. Formalmente, es un rompecabezas de seis piezas “vendibles por separado”. In the work created for the Barcelona SWAB fair, the title is fundamental. El contexto que involucra esta obra fue el del mundial de fútbol Brasil 2014, a raíz de ello el Museo MAC recibe la curatoría itinerante de Alfons Hug llamada “El juego solo acaba cuando termina”. La operación está enraizada en el gesto del camuflaje en tanto mixtura o híbrido. Utilizo lenguaje pop extraído del imaginario colectivo, en este caso, cruzando las nociones de caída artística a modo de Pietá y caída futbolística con tres iconos locales: penal frustrado de Cazzely, bengala del “Cóndor” Rojas y el gesto provocador televisado denominado “Pato Yáñez”(en honor a su autor). Sin duda el concepto que amarra la obra es el fracaso. En esta línea el fracaso futbolístico es estetizado desde un juego matemático de carácter oulipiano; la elección de las piezas y la cantidad de ellas responde a una estructura que depende del número de jugadores en cancha y de la distribución de la selección chilena en el año 1989, año del popular gesto de Yáñez. La obra comprende 9 Patos Yáñez a escala, cada uno pintado acorde a algún elemento identitario local, estos sumados a las 2 Pietas: Rojas y Cazzely dan el número 11, propio de la cantidad de jugadores que inician un partido oficial y no ajeno a nuestra propia historia (11-9). Los 9 patos Yañez son repetidos en filas bajo la estructura 4-4-3 de Chile en el 89, completando una horda de 99 “patos”. El resultado de la suma (99 Yañez más 2 Pietá) da: 101, claramente es una cita a Raymond Queneau. The context involved in this work was the 2014 Football World Cup in Brazil, as a result of which the Contemporary Art Museum received the itinerant curatorship ofAlfons Hug, called “The game only ends when it ends”.The statement is based on the gesture of camouflage as a mixture or hybrid.
